WWE has today announced a number of sponsorships for its upcoming SummerSlam show taking place on August 21. Of the list, a number of gaming brands will take part, including WWE gaming partner DraftKings.
DraftKings will utilize WWE’s television, social and digital media assets as well as its roster of famous wrestling talent in the lead up to the SummerSlam show.
“WWE’s ability to connect with a broad global audience allows us to attract sponsors across multiple categories,” said Claudine Lilien, WWE senior vice president, global sales & partnerships.
“Our charismatic Superstars provide tremendous value based on their passionate fanbases and we encourage our sponsors to feature them in custom campaigns.”
Other sponsors of the event include Victoria Beer and C4, the energy drink brand. C4 will leverage the social followings of WWE universal champion Roman Reigns, WWE SmackDown champion Bianca Belair and WWE’s Montez Ford and Mandy Rose with custom content leading up to the event and will also serve as the presenting partner of WWE’s media presence at the MGM Grand.
In March 2021 DraftKings and WWE agreed a partnership that saw the betting company become an official gaming partner of the wrestling group. The collaboration centers on DraftKings’ popular free-to-play pools product.
Speaking on the partnership between the two, Ezra Kucharz, chief business officer at DraftKings commented: “As a cultural icon and incredible sports and entertainment company, we are thrilled to join forces with WWE and introduce its devoted fanbase to the DraftKings brand. This relationship helps fuel the engagement and drama of WWE’s signature matchups and storylines as audiences enjoy the second-screen experiences our products provide.”
DraftKings is currently regulated in a number of states including Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Mississippi, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
