WNBA’s Seattle Storm partner with Angel of the Winds Casino Resort

The Seattle Storm of the WNBA have agreed to a multi-year exclusive casino partnership of Angel of the Winds Casino Resort in Arlington, Washington, the first such partnership for the sports franchise.
The partnership will bring Angel of the Winds Casino Resort branding to the Storm’s arena, including a floor decal for nationally televised games and around the court marketing for locally broadcast games.
The Storm are the reigning WNBA champions and are home to some of the most recognizable women’s basketball players in the world including Sue Bird and Breanna Stewart.
“The Storm is thrilled to team up with the Stillaguamish Tribe and Angel of the Winds Casino Resort, in a partnership that will bring new and exciting game night wins to Storm fans,” Alisha Valavanis, Storm President and CEO. “We are also eager to amplify the entertainment available to fans that make a trip out to Angel of he Winds Casino Resort.”
Angel of the Winds Casino Resort is owned by the Stillaguamish Tribe of western Washington. The resort, which opened in 2004 and holds a headline concert venue, is about an hour north of downtown Seattle.
The partnership comes as Washington tribes appear on the cusp of legalized sports betting. The Washington State Gambling Commission has approved revised tribal compact agreements for Stillaguamish Tribe and 14 other tribes. The compacts would permit on-site sports betting at tribal casinos.
Washington Gov. Jay Inslee must first sign the agreements, which would then go to the Department of Interior for federal review.
By partnering with the Seattle Storm, Stillaguamish Tribe has proactively tied itself to one of the state’s most successful sports franchises.
“This opportunity is a great example of the kind of partnership the Stillaguamish Tribe and Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort is looking for to support the region. From the opening of Angel Of The Winds 16 years ago, the Stillaguamish Tribe has committed to reinvesting in local community and strengthening our area,” said Travis O’Neil, General Manager of Angel Of The Winds Casino Resort. “Plus, who would turn down the opportunity to partner with a four-time WNBA champion?”
