BetMGM launches mobile app at Nationals Park

BetMGM announced it has launched its mobile sports betting app at Nationals Park, home of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals.

BetMGM is the only mobile sports app available at Nationals Park. The launch is part of a wider between partnership between the operator and the MLB club.

Later this year BetMGM will open a retail sportsbook connected to the stadium.

Fans will be able to wager on the app starting Thursday evening, when the Nationals host the San Francisco Giants in the first of a four-game series. The Nationals are beginning an 11-game homestand, giving ballpark guests plenty of opportunities to try out the app.

The app is available to download on iOS and Android devices. It is accessible throughout Washington, D.C. but customers can only wager on games within a two-block radius of Nationals Park.

"Launching in Washington, D.C. at Nationals Park sets the stage for our plans to expand BetMGM within the region, as we've already seen great success in Virginia," said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM. "The Washington Nationals have been a fantastic partner, committed to innovating the in-stadium fan experience and we're looking forward to opening our retail sportsbook at the stadium later this year."

BetMGM and the Washington Nationals announced an exclusive multi-year partnership in January. The deal gives BetMGM branding opportunities at Nationals Park, including the MGM National Harbor Dugout Club, an eight-seat luxury sports box adjacent to the team dugout.

The BetMGM retail sportsbook will be located in the space known as Center Field Social, near the Nationals Team Store.

"As our official sports betting partner, BetMGM further enhances the greatest in-venue fan experience in Washington, D.C. through its state-of-the-art entertainment products and services," said Alan Gottlieb, Chief Operating Office of Lerner Sports Group. "The BetMGM mobile app will enable our fans to engage with the game in new and exciting ways, while the BetMGM sportsbook connected to Nationals Park will provide Nationals fans and the D.C. community with a first-class gathering place to celebrate their passion for sports."

BetMGM has heavily cornered the Washington, D.C. region in recent months, launching mobile sports betting in neighboring Virginia and signing an official sports betting partner deal with the National Football League’s Baltimore Ravens.

MGM National Harbor is a seven-mile drive from Nationals Park.

Jorge Perez, President & COO, MGM National Harbor, said, "As a leader in delivering monumental experiences, today is a very exciting day for MGM National Harbor. This becomes the first of many offerings we are developing to seamlessly connect sports and entertainment across the DMV, providing fans with unique opportunities to interact with our world-class resort and casino."
