The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation operated casino will phase in changes over the next two weeks. All slot machines will be open to play, while capacity limits for table games, restaurants, theaters and shops will be gradually lifted.
“The strategic rollback plan for our COVID-19 measures is highly calculated and thoughtfully timed to ensure we do this right and keep our resort safe,” said Jason Guyot, president and CEO of Foxwoods Resort Casino in a press release. “With the exception of face masks, all protocols will be lifted by or before May 19, aligning with Connecticut’s plans. We will closely monitor our approach but are ready to introduce a safe and more relaxed ‘next normal’ environment for our guests and team members ahead of summer.”
Foxwoods has seen an uptick in customers this spring. In March, the casino reported slots revenues of $29.7m, up 32% compared to February and its highest monthly take since July 2020.
Foxwoods’ timeline in in accordance with the state. Last month Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont announced Covid-19 business restrictions will end on May 19, though indoor masking will continue.
In April, the Mashantucket Pequot and Gov. Lamont reached a historic agreement to bring sports betting and online gaming to Connecticut. Foxwoods already has a partnership in place with DraftKings.
