Ho-Chunk Nation casino in Wisconsin nears approval

The Ho-Chunk Nation casino proposal is close to reaching a full agreement with officials in the Badger State.
Construction for the casino could start next year, as all that remains is for the Federal Government to approve the decision.
The last step involves The Department of Interior (DOI) agreeing with the proposal; Ho-Chunk hopes it can gain approval within the next four to five months.
The casino was proposed to Wisconsin officials earlier this year and it was approved just weeks ago by Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
Evers previously approved that the Ho-Chunk Nation can build a $405m casino in the Beloit region in Wisconsin, although that was just the first hurdle for the tribe.
Likewise, the City of Beloit and Rocky County reached a revenue-sharing agreement with Ho-Chunk, demanding that the casino would pay each $3m every year.
Both county’s will gain 2% of the casino’s yearly profits and 70% will go the city and rest of the country.
However, there are two organizations trying to halt the casino project, as they believe there are already far too many casinos in Wisconsin.
The Citizens Against Expanded Gambling and Wisconsin Family Action tried to persuade Evers not to approve the casino, as Wisconsin already has 25 casinos.
If everything is approved, Wisconsin will gain a new casino which would feature a 300-room hotel and a 40,000 square-foot indoor water park, creating 1,500 jobs and 2,000 construction jobs.
