Publishers Clearing House has appointed Owen O’Donoghue as its new CEO following the company’s $7.1m sale to ARB Interactive, where he will help to lead a “brand revitalization” including the unveiling of a Prize Protection Program and mobile-first platform.
“Owen O’Donoghue’s expertise in gaming and digital engagement makes him the perfect leader to guide PCH into its next chapter,” ARB Interactive CEO Patrick Fechtmeyer said.
“His proven ability to drive innovation and build consumer trust aligns seamlessly with our mission to reimagine PCH as a leader in mobile-first, advertising-supported entertainment while honoring its iconic sweepstakes tradition.”
The Prize Protection Program serves as a bankruptcy-remote structure to ensure all future sweepstakes payouts are “fully secure” and modernize its digital platform. All payouts will be honored regardless of ARB Interactive’s financial status and are funded with investment-grade assets.
O’Donoghue most recently served as the Director of Gaming for Meta, where he collaborated with gaming companies across Europe and North America to forge strategic partnerships.
Good to know: California Assembly Bill 831, which seeks to ban dual-currency and prize-awarding sweepstakes operators from the state, officially passed the state Senate as part of a unanimous 36-0 vote on September 9
“I am thrilled to join Publishers Clearing House at this pivotal moment,” O’Donoghue said.
“With the Prize Protection Program, we are combining PCH’s iconic sweepstakes heritage with modern, secure digital experiences, ensuring every winner is protected while introducing mobile-first gaming that excites and engages users nationwide. We believe programs like this represent an industry best practice, and such safeguards should be standard to protect all sweepstakes participants.”
O’Donoghue also co-founded InfiniGods and served as CRO, helping to introduce blockchain-based gaming solutions and scale growth at Microsoft.
Under his new position, O’Donoghue will oversee the company’s transformation into a digital-first platform, leverage ARB Interactive’s technology to provide “transparent and compliant” gaming experiences and expand Publisher Clearing House’s free-to-play games offering.
