Accel Entertainment appoints Brett Summerer as new CFO

Accel Entertainment has named Brett Summerer as its new CFO effective September 22, with the finance executive set to take over the position from Mark Phelan, who had been serving as acting CFO in addition to his role as President of US Gaming.
“Brett is an accomplished finance leader who brings extensive operational and financial discipline as well as experience in regulated industries to the CFO role at Accel,” Accel Entertainment CEO Andy Rubenstein said.
“With a proven record of driving sustainable growth across diverse industries and business models, Brett will be an integral member of the team as we continue scaling our operations and expanding into new markets, while we also work to strengthen our financial platform and deliver long-term value for our stakeholders.”
Rubenstein also stated the company is “grateful” to Phelan for stepping into the CFO role and for making “significant contributions” to its finance function throughout the short tenure.
Summerer will now oversee all financial aspects of Accel Entertainment including internal and external financial reporting, internal audit, compliance and controls, investor relations and treasury and capital markets functions.

Summerer will also take a “prominent role” in Accel Entertainment’s strategic planning, business development and mergers and acquisitions, according to the release. He most recently served as CFO of Verano Holdings, where he led multiple system implementations and completed over 20 M&A transactions.
