MGCB reports over $312.5m in iGaming and sports betting revenue for August 2025

The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has reported the state’s iGaming and sports betting revenue throughout August 2025, as operators managed to generate $312.5m for an increase of 39.5% from the prior year period.
iGaming gross receipts generated for August 2025 totaled $263.3m and grew 37.5%, while sports betting accounted for the remaining $49.2m, increasing 67.5% year-over-year. The total sports betting handle for August 2025 was reported to be $338.9m, representing an increase of 21%.
Month-over-month, the total sports betting handle increased by 19.9%, perhaps indicating a rise in consumer interest due to the return of college and professional football.
Adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for iGaming and sports betting operators were reported to be $281.4m for August 2025, with iGaming being the primary driver of revenue with $247.2m and increasing 39.8%. Sports betting accounted for $34.2m of the total monthly figure, equating to an increase of $17.9m from the AGR reported for August 2024.
Tribal operators which report to the MGCB submitted $6.2m in payments to respective governing bodies for August 2025, rising by 34.8%, as Detroit’s three commercial casinos also reported $13.8m in wagering taxes and service fees.

On August 14, the MGCB issued cease-and-desist orders to 15 unlicensed online gambling operators, found to be in violation of the state’s Lawful Internet Gaming Act, Gaming Control and Revenue Act and sections of the Michigan Penal Code.
The operators found to be targeting residents within the state included 7 Bit Casino, Avia Games Inc., Grande Vegas Casino, High Country Casino, PrimaPlay Casino, Slot Madness, Slots Plus Casino, Sun Palace Casino and Vegas Casino Online.
