Gunman opens fire at Grand Sierra Resort in Reno

Authorities have reported a gunman opened fire on July 28 inside the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, killing two people and leaving three others injured before being taken into custody and transported to a local hospital.
An update on the conditions of the three injured victims was not made available at the time of writing, as officers reportedly arrived at the scene less than three minutes after the first shots were fired.
“My heart breaks for the victims, their families and our entire community. Reno is strong — but we are not immune to the epidemic of gun violence gripping this nation,” Northern Nevada Board of Health Chairman Devon Reese said.
In addition to the major injuries, one person at Grand Sierra Resort had to be treated after a bullet grazed their pinky finger, one was treated for severe anxiety following the event and a third was injured while trying to run from the shooter.
“My office is aware of the officer-involved shooting near the Grand Sierra Resort this morning,” Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo said.
“The Nevada Department of Public Safety is assisting local authorities with this investigation and will provide support to the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and Reno Police Department as needed. While we wait for more information, please join Donna and me in praying for the victims and their families and for our brave first responders.”
