Light & Wonder receives UAE vendor license

Light & Wonder has received a gaming-related vendor license from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) in the UAE. 

With this license, the supplier will be able to offer land-based gaming machines, table games and iGaming content to licensed operators and their players throughout the nation. The move comes following the GCGRA’s first license authorization in July 2024, which saw The Game LLC become the UAE’s first authorized lottery operator.  

The development of the GCGRA, of course, came following Wynn Resorts’ announcement of a $2bn casino resort being built on Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah, which is set to open in early 2027. 

Meanwhile, the first gaming-related vendor license was received by Aristocrat in October of that year, with other suppliers including Novomatic, IGT and Scientific Games also receiving licenses.  

Good to know: In May, the GCGRA signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE), aiming at improving both regulator’s consumer protection and cybersecurity infrastructures
