Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa held its grand opening ceremony on July 3, including a signature guitar smash and musical performances to officially launch the country’s first-ever Hard Rock resort.
“Bringing Hard Rock to Canada’s capital is an iconic milestone for our brand,” Hard Rock International CEO Jim Allen said.
“We’re proud to expand our global footprint and create a destination where locals and visitors can experience world-class gaming, hospitality and entertainment all in one place.”
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa was completed following a construction cost of $350m according to the operator, and contains over 150,000 sq ft of entertainment and hospitality space.
“I could not be prouder of our local and global team members who have collaborated on this remarkable venue,” Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa President Christine Crump said.
“We’ve built a destination that will attract guests from inside and outside our borders, helping to drive the local economy. It truly is the new place to be!”
Attendees of the ceremony included Hard Rock International COO Jeff Hook and Executive Operations Advisor Jon Lucas, Seminole Tribe of Florida leaders, City of Ottawa officials, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho and Michael Andlauer of the Ottawa Senators ice hockey ownership group, among others.

“Our government is thrilled that Hard Rock chose Ontario for its first fully integrated hotel and casino venue in Canada,” Cho said.
“This new entertainment and hospitality destination will draw visitors from near and far to Ottawa, create and sustain hundreds of local jobs and provide millions of dollars for local infrastructure and community programs.”
Hard Rock International would go on to donate $100,000 to the Ottawa Food Bank during the celebration, helping to reinforce the operator’s commitment to giving back to the communities in which its properties are located.
The grand opening ceremony will continue through July 5, capped off by a musical performance from well-known recording artist Avril Lavigne.
