Freedom Plaza releases new affordable home renderings

The Freedom Plaza project in Manhattan, New York has unveiled renderings of its plans to develop 1,049 new residential units, 513 of which will be meant to provide affordable housing to anyone in the state.
“Freedom Plaza represents a transformative vision for Manhattan’s East Side, blending residential, cultural and commercial spaces to create a thriving community that supports both working-class families and the region’s continued economic growth,” Soloviev Group CEO Michael Hershman said.
Among these 513 units, more than 20 will be offered as affordable condominiums to promote home ownership throughout the city. Building on an earlier approved plan for the site, Freedom Plaza is set to provide the largest number of newly constructed residential units to central Manhattan in over a decade.
“Freedom Plaza embodies our commitment to creating vibrant, sustainable communities that drive economic growth and enrich local cultures,” Mohegan CEO Ray Pineault said.
“By partnering with Soloviev Group, we are excited to bring world-class hospitality, inclusive housing, and transformative economic opportunities to Manhattan’s East Side.”

Developed by Soloviev Group and designed by BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group, Freedom Plaza spans 6.3-acres from 38th to 41st Street east of First Avenue. The mixed-use development, which will be built only with union labor according to Soloviev Group, will feature approximately five acres of public open space designed by OJB Landscape Architecture.
Two hotel towers from Mohegan and the owners of the Banyan Tree hotels and resorts will feature retail, dining and entertainment, as well as the option of modern gaming for eligible guests.
