BetMGM announces Pennsylvanian poker expansion

Key Points
- BetMGM Poker has expanded its prize pool to include players from Pennsylvania
- This move marks the inclusion of a third state to the pool, with Pennsylvania now joining New Jersey and Michigan
Operator BetMGM has announced the addition of Pennsylvania to the BetMGM Poker player pool, in a move that merges the state market with the likes of New Jersey and Michigan – already part of the pool.
According to this latest announcement, this move will allow players in all three states to access the BetMGM Poker platform in competition for the operator’s prize pool. The current prize pool on offer via BetMGM Poker is the largest offered by the platform to date – and allows players to compete via online tournaments, spin the wheel promotions and the recently re-announced BetMGM Poker Championship at Aira Las Vegas, running from June 30 – July 4.
Speaking on this latest expansion, BetMGM’s VP of Gaming, Angus Nisbet, said, “Pennsylvania represents the largest state to join the shared player pool and turbocharges our poker platform. This expanded player pool will allow us to deliver more games and bigger tournaments to our players. BetMGM Poker is ready to celebrate the growth of our shared liquidity network throughout the spring and summer in a variety of ways.”
Also speaking on the move was four-time World Poker Tournament winner and BetMGM Poker Ambassador, Darren Elias, who stated, “It’s been amazing being part of the tremendous growth of BetMGM poker throughout the years. Adding a large market like Pennsylvania is a huge milestone in continued expansion and provides the opportunity to compete against more players and for larger prize pools. I used to call Pennsylvania home, and it played an important part in my early poker career. I can’t wait to log in and get in the mix.”
Good to know: This latest promotional expansion comes after the launch of BetMGM’s first-ever online casino commercial starring Jamie Foxx last month
Indeed, this advertising initiative falls in the wake of a recent $110,000 penalty imposed on the operator by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission Ontario (AGCO) for prohibited marketing strategies.
Now, following the announcement of a FY24 revenue figure of $2.1bn, up 7% year-on-year, in February – BetMGM has now furthered its North American expansion plans with this latest poker-related initiative. More recently, earlier this week, the operator was again named the official Entitlement Sponsor of the Nascar Xfinity Series race.
