Argentina removes 30% tax on online video games
In a move to advance the entertainment industry, (although not directly for gambling) ARCA announced the elimination of a significant tax on digital services.

The Argentinian Customs Control and Collection Agency (ARCA) has announced the elimination of the 30% income tax withholding for purchases on gaming platforms abroad.
Now, those who use video game portals to pay subscriptions, purchase content, or use online services will pay less than what they did until today.
So far, the main taxes applied on gaming sites were Value Added Tax (VAT), which corresponds to 21% on the price of the digital product or service and Income Tax and Personal Property Tax, meaning 30% on the total transaction amount. These taxes were summed up at the final price of the chosen service.
While this does not strictly affect gaming and betting sites, it demonstrates a greater favour to gaming as a whole from Argentina.
Following the lifting of restrictions announced on April 11, 2025, regarding the capability of the Argentinians to buy and sell foreign exchange freely, the possibility of the Government moving forward with a reduction in taxes applied to these types of platforms began to circulate. This could lower the final cost of games for Argentine users and, potentially, gambling sites, following the line of encouraging the use of digital services and platforms.
The Government released an initial list with the gaming sites that are now free from the 30% tax, which include platforms like PlayStation Network, Steam, Sony, Epic Games and clarified that those entities failing to implement the new pricing in time, charging the users improperly, will be obliged to make a refund in the next during the next month.
It is expected for Argentina to continue to reduce taxes, benefiting the gaming and gambling industries.
