Virginia February sports betting handle reaches $556.8m, up 2.2%

The Virginia Lottery has released its financial figures for the period between February 1 and February 28, 2025. Gross sports gaming revenue totaled $556.8m, a rise of 2.2% when compared to last year.
A total of 14 mobile operators are licensed to operate in Virginia, with $553m in handle coming from these. Three casinos also hold licenses, and they collected $3.8m towards the total.
Virginia bettors won a total of $490m, for a combined win percentage of 12% across operators. This put total adjusted gross revenue for the month at $61.9m, which is to be taxed at 15% of each permit holder’s total.
Good to know: From the total tax collected, 97.5% is taken and deposited into the state’s General Fund, while 2.5% is used to support the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund administered by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services
Total tax collected from this month’s sports betting came to $9.3m, which will be divided — $9.1m to the Virginia General Fund and $232,599 towards the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund.
