Macau GGR climbs to $2.46bn for March 2025

This revenue figure reflects a marginal 0.8% rise year-over-year.
Key Points
- Macau’s GGR figure for the month of March hits MOP 19.6bn ($2.46bn)
- This represents a year-on-year rise of 0.8%
- Macau has now posted back-to-back monthly revenue growth figures for February and March
- This latest revenue figure represents a slight monthly decline of 0.4%
Financial figures from Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau for the month of March have been revealed, highlighting a 0.8% rise in gross gaming revenue (GGR) to MOP 19.66bn ($2.45bn).
As per these latest financial statistics, this slight rise in revenue year-over-year sees Macau’s continued recovery from its two-month back-to-back revenue slump, as the region has now reported two consecutive months of year-over-year revenue growth during February and March.
Indeed, December 2024 marked Macau’s first year-over-year revenue fall (2%) since 2022, followed by an even sharper drop of 5.6% during January. Now, following a revenue rise of 6.8% during February, with GGR reaching MOP 19.7bn, the jurisdiction is seemingly on the road to recovery from the blip.
Monthly GGR aside, the region’s cumulative gross income for the calendar year so far was also up by 0.6% when compared to this time last year, reaching MOP 57.66bn.
While these latest results do represent a slight rise when compared to results from March 2024, they also highlight a month-over-month decline of 0.4%.
As one of the globe’s two primary gambling hubs, comparing Macau’s financial results to that of Nevada’s – which is, of course, home to the city of Las Vegas – often makes for interesting reading. As represented by Nevada’s most recent figures from the month of February – also published today – the US state experienced a monthly revenue figure of $1.17bn, less than half that of Macau’s revenue numbers for the month of March.
These latest figures represent a similar fluctuation to Macau’s recent GGR figures, as it marks a drop-off of 20.7% when compared to results from January. Moreover, these newly posted numbers fall in the wake of Nevada’s recording breaking $1.46bn gaming win figure posted in December.
Good to know: Fluctuating revenue figures from both Macau and Nevada are now more likely than continuous growth, due to the region’s full respective recoveries from the pandemic
Elsewhere in Macau, December saw the NBA pair up with Sands China to hold two preseason games in the region.
This news also falls in the wake of the appointment of Sam Hou Fai as Macau’s new Chief Executive following near-unanimous approval from voters in October that has made him the first Chief of the region born out of mainland China. Since that time, Hou Fai has integrated a number of personnel changes within Macau’s government.
