Key Points
- Last month’s revenue represents all gambling statewide, including fantasy contests
- Pennsylvania’s sports betting handle reached $873.1m during the month
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has published its statewide gambling revenue results from the month of January. The regulator reported $529.1m combined revenue from all forms of gambling and fantasy contests.
January revenue rose by nearly 11% when compared to results posted last year.
In a breakdown of statewide gaming revenue, retail slots generated $187.8m during January, up by close to 5% year-over-year.
Retail able games ended the month with $73.7m in revenue, reflecting a year-over-year increase of 1.5%.
Pennsylvania’s casinos contributed $210.1m to the state’s revenue total in January. Casino revenue last month grew by more than 40% year-over-year.
The statewide sports betting handle reached $873.1m last month, slightly above Pennsylvania’s results from a year ago.
However, taxable revenue in January fell by more than 26% when compared to last year’s total. The state posted $51.5m in January 2025 taxable revenue.
The PGCB recently placed 26 people onto its Involuntary Exclusion Lists and reported that four of the 26 added to these lists “left minors unattended in order to engage in gaming activities.”
According to the PGBC report, an 11-month-old child was left unattended in a vehicle by a male patron in the parking lot at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course. The child remained unattended for 45 minutes in 40-degree weather while the patron played slot machines inside the casino.
The PGCB said in a statement, “The Board’s actions in these matters stem from its commitment to keep individuals who have committed fraud from gaming online in Pennsylvania. The additions made today brought the total number of individuals who are currently on the iGaming Involuntary Exclusion List to 61.
“Actions such as these to deny statewide gambling privileges serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.”
