The Virginia Lottery has published its casino revenue results for the month of January. Last month, Virginia’s three casinos generated a combined total of almost $72.3m in adjusted gaming revenue.
During January, slot games contributed $53.8m to the total casino revenue, while the remaining $18.5m came from table games.
In a breakdown of revenue by casino, Caesars Virginia contributed the highest amount to the revenue total. The casino brought in almost $28.6m in revenue last month.
Rivers Casino Portsmouth grabbed the second-place spot with close to $25.3m in total revenue last month. HR Bristol contributed another $18.5m to the combined January total.
Last month, the state’s casinos paid nearly $13m in taxes to the Gaming Proceeds Fund.
Caesars Virginia is the third casino to take up residence within Virginia’s borders. The temporary facility was open to the public for more than a year.

The state’s other casinos, Rivers Casino Portsmouth and HR Bristol welcomed guests for the first time more than two years ago.
Virginia lawmakers have attempted to bring additional casinos to the state for the past couple years.
The question of whether Petersburg would welcome a casino has been answered with a resounding no. The Senate committee struck down attempts to land a casino in Petersburg during both the 2022 and 2023 legislative session.
However, lawmakers in Petersburg voted in favor of bringing in a new casino to the city earlier this year. Legislation passed in both the House of Delegates and in the Senate.
