The Oregon Lottery has reported that more than 456,000 bets were placed by residents of the state through DraftKings sportsbook during Super Bowl LIX, resulting in a total wager amount of nearly $8.3m.

"This Super Bowl generated more than $2.8m in revenue for Oregon, the most for a single sports event since we launched sports betting," Oregon Lottery Sports Betting Products Manager Kerry Hemphill said.

"Prop bets performed strong, and the Eagles overwhelming win was unexpected."

Eligible residents had more than 1,100 prop bets to choose from on DraftKings sportsbook, such as who would be named Most Valuable Player (MVP), which team would make the first touchdown, which would win the opening coin toss and more.

In regards to the coin toss, 9,375 bets were placed and 5,120 correctly chose the Kansas City Chiefs to win the toss. Nearly 9,000 bets were placed on which color of gatorade would be poured on the winning coach, with only 981 choosing correctly with yellow, and the average Super Bowl LIX wager having been reported to be $18.11.

The player with the biggest win of the day was a customer from Eugene, Oregon who placed a $25 bet on a 13-leg multi-sport parlay, ending with the Philadelphia Eagles needing to cover a spread of -6.5 points. The parlay resulted in a win of $49,370 after the Eagles defeated the Chiefs by a score of 40-22.

Good to know: The Oregon Lottery and DraftKings sportsbook once again offered Taylor Swift-themed betting props ahead of Super Bowl LIX, continuing the promotion after its original debut during January 2024

The Oregon Lottery also reported close to a 9% increase in the number of unique, active players who placed a wager on the gaming platform from 2024. During this time last year, Oregon players placed 424,812 bets valued at $7.7m, with the state having debuted online sports betting in October 2019.

DraftKings replaced Scoreboard as the official sportsbook provider of the Oregon Lottery during January 2022, which marked the second-ever exclusive lottery agreement the operator had launched at the time of announcement.
