Key points:
- Betting options such as “Shake It Off” gives users the opportunity to take Philadelphia to score first, but Kansas City to win the game
- DraftKings and Oregon Lottery will also be providing prop bets such as which team will be leading at halftime and which player will take home Super Bowl MVP
The Oregon Lottery and DraftKings sportsbook will once again be offering Taylor Swift-themed betting props ahead of Super Bowl LIX which is set to take place on February 9 from New Orleans. Swift is currently in a relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who will take on the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of Super Bowl LVII.
The operator will offer betting props such as “Shake It Off,” which allows bettors the opportunity to take Philadelphia to score first, but Kansas City to win the game. “Deja Vu” has the Chiefs winning by exactly three points, the same scoring difference as Kansas City’s victory in 2023.
The props are named after well-known songs by Swift, with “Wildest Dreams” needing Kelce to score the first and last touchdown of the game.
"The combination of celebrities, funny commercials, and of course, big plays at this event help generate the most interest in sports betting we see all year," Oregon Lottery Sports Betting Products Manager Kerry Hemphill said.
"The Super Bowl also attracts more casual sports betters who want to take advantage of the fun wagers offered."
Good to know: The Massachusetts Gaming Commission released a statement on February 5 to encourage safe and responsible play during Super Bowl LIX
Prop bets extend past typical betting options offered by sportsbooks such as DraftKings like which team will win the opening coin toss, what color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach and who will win the Super Bowl LIX Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
During last year's Super Bowl, Oregon players reportedly placed 382,000 bets through DraftKings, with wagers totaling $6.9m, up by more than $1.5m from the Chiefs and Eagles previous matchup in 2023.
The Oregon Lottery originally debuted legal sports betting during October 2019 and has reportedly seen more than $2.6bn wagered since its launch.
