Key points:
- An assessment discovered 152 instances of unauthorized gaming on BetMGM’s sites
- The board also fined Rush Street Gaming and Stadium Casino Westmoreland
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has levied a $260,905 fine against BetMGM for allowing those placed on a self-exclusion list to gamble on its sites.
The PGCB reported that the interactive operator permitted self-excluded individuals to gamble online in 152 instances.
“Licensed operators of iGaming sites in Pennsylvania must deny individuals on the self-exclusion list from establishing or maintaining an interactive gaming site,” the regulator said in a statement.
Self-exclusion lists are put in place to prevent people from entering casinos within the state or participating in gambling activities through Pennsylvania’s legal iGaming sites.
The board approved three consent agreements the Office of Enforcement Counsel (OEC), which resulted in $282,205 of total fines issued.
BetMGM received the largest fine of the three. The control board fined Rush Street Gaming $13,800 for “failure to file a Principal License renewal application for its Chief Financial Officer.”
Live! Casino Pittsburgh’s operator Stadium Casino Westmoreland RE received a $7,500 fine for “using revoked software within 11 of its slot machines.”
However, the board did not stop there.
Four people were denied statewide gambling privileges because of violations connected to leaving minors unattended while gambling.
The PGCB said, “Actions such as these to deny statewide gambling privileges serve as a reminder that adults are prohibited from leaving minors unattended in the parking lot or garage, a hotel, or other venues at a casino since it creates a potentially unsafe and dangerous environment for the children.”
