New Jersey casinos produce $522.6m in gaming revenue for December 2024

The figure is a slight 0.1% increase year-over-year, but FY2024 total gaming win was reported to be $6.3bn, which is a 9% increase from the prior year period.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has reported the total gaming revenue from the state’s nine casinos during December 2024, which decreased by only 0.1% year-over-year to be $522.6m. 

Casino win generated the most revenue throughout December in New Jersey, but decreased by 0.3% from the prior year period for a total of $231.8m. The DGE reported that iGaming win during December was $228m, which reflects a 26.5% increase year-over-year. 

Borgata Atlantic City accumulated the most casino win of any property during December, reporting over $62.7m for an increase of 6.8% year-over-year. Bally’s casino win saw the largest decrease from the prior year period, falling by 13.1% for a total of just over $10m.

Slot machine win accounted for nearly $168m of the casino win throughout December, which equates to a decrease of 4.2% from the prior year period. Table game win generated another $63.8m during the period, reflecting an increase of 11.6% year-over-year. 

Sports wagering gross revenue saw the largest decrease year-over-year, falling by 42.6% to be reported at $62.8m for December 2024. The majority of the sports wagering revenue generated during December came from the Meadowlands Racetrack, which reported nearly $30.6m in revenue but still decreased by 40.2% year-over-year. 

The only properties to see increases in sports wagering revenue during December were Bally’s Atlantic City and Harrah’s, with Bally’s having increased its revenue by over $4m throughout the period. Harrah’s increased its sports wagering revenue by 44.5% year-over-year, while Bally's reported over $4.6m in sports wagering gross revenue for December. 

Good to know: The SPGA released an official statement on January 16 in regards to a bill introduced in New Jersey that would regulate sweepstakes casinos in the same fashion as iGaming platforms

For iGaming win, Golden Nugget reported the highest revenue of any of the nine properties, increasing 25.3% from the prior year period to be $66.2m. Borgata and Resorts reported iGaming wins of $53.2m and $58.4m, respectively, reflecting increases of 31.2% and 26.7% year-over-year. The largest increase throughout December came from Hard Rock Atlantic City, which grew by 41.7% from the prior year period for a total of nearly $12.9m. 

The DGE also reported full-year 2024 (FY2024) gaming revenue in New Jersey, which was $6.3bn and represents a 9% increase year-over-year. Casino win represented $2.82bn of the total gaming revenue for FY2024, but decreased 1.1% compared to the total reported for 2023. 

iGaming win throughout 2024 was reported to be $2.39bn while sports wagering revenue accounted for $1.09bn, reflecting increases of 26.5% and 8.7% from the prior year period, respectively. 

Over the course of 2024, slot machine win in New Jersey generated nearly $2.1bn of the total casino win, while table game win was reported to be nearly $721.4m. The figures both represent decreases year-over-year, with slot machine win falling by 0.7% and table game win decreasing by 2%.
