Mohegan Sun appoints Doug Vogelei as VP of Gaming

Prior to accepting the role with Mohegan, Vogelei held the position of SVP of Casino Operations at Sycuan Casino Resort in California for over four years.

Key points:

- Vogelei will provide strategic vision, oversight and alignment of gaming operations in collaboration with Mohegan Sun’s gaming leadership team

- He also worked for over 20 years at the Venetian Casino & Resort in Las Vegas where he oversaw table games, slots and poker

Doug Vogelei has been appointed as VP of Gaming for Mohegan Sun, where he will provide strategic vision, oversight and alignment of gaming operations in collaboration with Mohegan Sun’s gaming leadership team.

“Doug’s vast knowledge in gaming operations and ability to inspire large teams makes him a perfect fit for this role,” Mohegan Sun President and GM Jeff Hamilton said. 

“We’re confident that his expertise makes him an impactful addition to our leadership team, and we look forward to seeing him continue to enhance the overall gaming experience for our guests at Mohegan Sun.”

Before joining Mohegan Sun as VP of Gaming, Vogelei held the position of SVP of Casino Operations at the Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California for over four years. He also held key positions with the Venetian Casino & Resorts in Las Vegas for over 20 years. 

Good to know: Mohegan reported its Q4 2024 and FY2024 financial results on January 1, which included a FY2024 net revenue of $1.9bn, representing a 13% increase from the prior year period

With Venetian, Vogelei advanced through the property’s gaming sector before ultimately overseeing table games, slots and poker. Vogelei spent a great deal of his career in Las Vegas, having originally earned his bachelor’s degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). 

He is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University, Shreveport and served as a board member for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) San Diego Chapter.
