Golden Matrix applies for Ontario license

The supplier has submitted the bid through its subsidiary, Expanse Studios.
Key Points
- Golden Matrix subsidiary Expanse Studios has filed for a B2B license in Ontario
- The company is now awaiting approval from the AGCO
Supplier Golden Matrix has announced that subsidiary organization Expanse Studios has begun the application process for a B2B Gaming License in the province of Ontario.
This latest move from Golden Matrix has been executed in partnership with Canadian regulatory and legal firm Segev LLP, and closely follows the official launch of Expanse Studios in September, a move that marked Golden Matrix’s entry into the social casino space.
Now, following its license submission, Expanse Studios will be subject to a range of regulatory, compliance and financial checks by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission Ontario (AGCO) before it can enter the market.
In August, Golden Matrix Group released a business update which detailed a number of expansion plans across LatAm and North America; plans which, evidently, have now been set in motion.
Indeed, Golden Matrix already yields a presence in North America, as the region provided an estimated 72% boost to the revenue of its sports betting solutions subsidiary, Meridianbet, in August.
Good to know: Since opening its market in April 2022, online gaming in Ontario has exploded and the province has become a common destination for gaming companies
Speaking on this latest license application announcement, Damjan Stamenkovic, CEO of Expanse Studios, stated, “Completing the filing process is a critical milestone in our journey to bring Expanse Studios to Ontario.
“This achievement underscores our commitment to operating in the biggest and most regulated markets and delivering world-class gaming content to players across the globe. We are optimistic about the opportunities Ontario presents and confident in our ability to contribute to this thriving iGaming ecosystem.”
In related news out of Ontario, last week, Jackpot Digital received approval from the AGCO to operate within the jurisdiction. Moreover, this news was closely followed by the announcement that Martha Otton, Chief Executive of iGaming Ontario, has extended her retirement date from the new year until the spring – as the organization continues its search for a replacement.
