Caesars Entertainment celebrated the grand opening of its Caesars Virginia property on December 17, featuring a fireworks display, ribbon-cutting event, race car parade and an appearance from NBA Hall-of-Famer Dennis Rodman.

The new property hosts 90,000 sq ft of gaming space on its casino floor, including nearly 1,500 slot machines, 79 live-action table games, 48 electronic table games, a World Series of Poker room and Caesars sportsbook.

“This has been an impressive development project to see come together over the past couple of years and we couldn’t be prouder to finally open the doors of this beautiful destination,” Caesars Virginia SVP and GM Chris Albrecht said.

“We couldn’t have done it without the support of our partners, Team Members and the Danville community and we’re so grateful to have had so many of them here with us to celebrate. We look forward to what the future holds here in Virginia, and we can’t wait to share it with our guests.”

Following the ribbon-cutting, guests entered the 587,000 sq ft casino resort to place their bets for the first time at the sportsbook. Rodman placed the first ceremonial bet at Caesars Virginia, betting a $100 five-leg parlay on all five teams he played for in the NBA to win its next game.

Caesars Virginia is owned in partnership between Caesars Entertainment and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Good to know: Caesars announced that it closed on the sale of its Linq Promenade to a joint venture between TPG Real Estate and the Investment Management Platform of Acadia Realty Trust on December 12

“The grand opening of Caesars Virginia in Danville marks another proud moment of our partnership with Caesars,” Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Chief Michell Hicks said.

“It reflects the EBCI’s commitment to economic growth, job creation and community investment. We’re honored to be part of an effort that creates lasting opportunities for the people of Danville and the surrounding region.”

Caesars Entertainment President and COO Anthony Carano also spoke on how Caesars Virginia will fit into the company’s portfolio, having said, “This beautiful destination encompasses what the Caesars brand is all about.

“From exceptional restaurants, high-energy gaming and exciting entertainment, Caesars Virginia has it all. The fantastic amenities coupled with the Family Style Service Caesars is known for make for a world-class destination we know our guests and the community will love.”
