Major League Baseball unveils partnership with Sportradar

The MLB will now employ Sportradar’s player analysis technologies for talent scouting purposes.
Key Points
- Sportradar has entered a new partnership with MLB
- The arrangement is for the provision of player analysis technologies to be used for scouting purposes across the league
Supplier Sportradar has entered into a new, multi-year deal with Major League Baseball (MLB) for the provision of its player analysis technology, set to be utilised for player scouting amongst amateur leagues.
As per the new arrangement, MLB and all 30 of its clubs will gain access to player insight and analysis from a range of college, international, amateur and professional partner leagues – including the MLB Draft Leage, Appalachian league and MLB Develops events. Further, the deal also encompasses high school and college baseball.
In September, Sportradar announced it would be making its entry into the microbetting market. This news was closely followed by an additional deal with nVenue, which allowed the latter to offer live betting markets to operators and platforms in the US market via Sportradar’s Unified Odds Feed.
Eduard Blonk, Chief Commercial Officer, Sportradar, said, “Sportradar’s cutting-edge technology, alongside our reputation as a trusted partner to leading US sports leagues, is driving the transformation of sports performance analysis. Through Synergy we are pleased that we are expanding our relationship with MLB, equipping them with the deep data and insights they need to identify the next generation of players. We are eager to continue bringing innovative solutions to MLB.”
Good to know: This latest deal will act alongside the supplier’s ongoing collaboration with the NBA
For the MLB, this latest announcement closely follows the news of a settlement agreement between FanDuel and the league’s Players Union earlier this week, following legal action that was taken against the operator and its competitor DraftKings back in September.
John D’Angelo, MLB’s SVP of Amateur and Medical Operations, also commented on the partnership agreement, saying, “We are excited to expand our relationship with Sportradar and ensure equal access to the Synergy video and data services for all 30 MLB clubs.
“This platform has become a key resource for Clubs in the domestic and international scouting process and we look forward to continuing our work with Sportradar in the coming years.”
