Figures released by the Virginia Lottery reveal an adjusted gaming revenue (AGR) figure of $57m for the state during the month of October, a 13.9% increase year-over-year.
Of the three operating casinos currently active in the state of Virginia, Rivers Casino Portsmouth was the primary driver, generating an AGR figure of $25.4m, trailed by Caesars Virginia at $18.2m and Hard Rock Bristol at $13.4m.
Combined, the state’s total AGR figure was comprised of $42.3m generated by slots, with the remaining $14.8m generated by table games. Further, all three casinos saw an increase in AGR year-over-year, with the sharpest increase of 23.8% experienced by Rivers Casino Portsmouth.
Regarding tax, the monthly total reported by the Virginia Lottery for October settled at $11.5m, up from $9.1m recorded in October 2023 – with the highest contribution, again, coming from Rivers Casino Portsmouth, which generated $5.8m in total tax. Of the total tax reported, $7.7m went towards the state’s Gaming Proceeds Fund, with an additional $92,313 (0.8%) being put towards the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund.

These latest casino figures released by the Virginia Lottery also reveal a slight increase in AGR when compared to the figure of $56.6m posted in September 2024, a monthly rise of 0.7%. Similarly, Rivers Casino Portsmouth was also the state’s highest earner in September, bringing in $24.2m in AGR.
These numbers also fall in the wake of Virginia’s September 2024 sports wagering results, which revealed a wagering handle of $622m for the month, a rise of 20% year-over-year.
