Western Copper and Gold names Raymond Threlkeld as Board Chairman

He will step in for Interim Chairman Bill Williams.
Western Copper and Gold Corporation has appointed Raymond Threlkeld to serve as Chairman of the Board. Threlkeld has been with the company since June.
He will replace former Board Interim Chairman Dr. Bill Williams, who has served in the position since February.
However, Williams is not leaving the board but will continue to serve as a director.
Williams took a moment to welcome Threlkeld to the role by saying, “I am pleased with the progress made during my tenure as Interim Chairman.
“With Ray’s extensive background in project development, construction, and executive management, I am confident he is the right person to lead the Board moving forward.”
The Canadian company is currently developing the Casino Project, a copper-gold mine in the Yukon Territory, and is working with local communities and First Nations on the development.
Threlkeld said that he is eager to step into this new role.
He commented, “I am excited to step into the role of Chairman and to lead the Board during this pivotal time for Western.
“I look forward to collaborating with my fellow directors and management to unlock the full potential of the Casino Project.”
Both Western Copper and Gold and Rio Tinto Canada will continue to partner on the company’s casino project in the Yukon.
Under the terms of the amended agreement, Western will continue to function as the Casino Project’s sole owner and operator.
In other national news, lawmakers in the Canadian province of Ontario will consider whether to allow players in the province to engage in gameplay on regulated sites with those outside of the country.
Online gaming debuted in the province two years ago. The push for the precedent-setting court ruling will go before a Toronto court later this fall.
A spokesperson for Ontario Attorney General Doug Downey noted that Ontario is “bringing the online gambling reference case to get clarity on whether a model that permits international play would be lawful.”
