The state reported monthly growth in its casino and iGaming revenue.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has published its statewide gambling revenue results for August. During the month, New Jersey celebrated significant growth across several markets.
The state posted $555.1m in total revenue for the month, represented by its casinos, iGaming and sports betting, as well as racetracks and state partners.
Overall gaming revenue in New Jersey rose by 4.4% when compared to results posted during this time a year ago.
Casino win across the state grew by 4.9% year-over-year to reach $294m. So far this year, the state’s nine casino properties have generated $1.92bn in revenue.
New Jersey iGaming reported growth last month as well, with $198.4m in revenue. August iGaming revenue rose by almost 28% when compared to revenue results from August 2023.
However, sports betting throughout the state experienced a decrease in year-over-year revenue. New Jersey’s sports wagering revenue fell by nearly 35% when compared to how the state did a year ago.
Last month, sports betting brought in $62.7m in revenue.

In other state news, Superior Court Judge Patrick Bartels recently issued a ruling that will allow smoking in Atlantic City’s casinos to continue.
Judge Bartels’ ruling was in response to a recent lawsuit filed by The United Auto Workers, a union that represents Bally’s Tropicana and Caesars casino dealers.
Indoor smoking has been banned in New Jersey since 2006. However, the current laws on the books make room for smoking in casinos and in simulcasting facilities, an allowance casino employees have pushed back against for more than three years.
