The first ESPN Bet branded retail sportsbook opened at Hollywood Casino at Greektown in Detroit during April.

Penn Entertainment announced that it plans to rebrand eight of its retail sportsbooks in sports-centric markets to ESPN Bet branded locations. The upcoming brand conversions are said to “help further brand connectivity and create meaningful cross-sell opportunities between the casino and ESPN Bet.”

The list of properties that will be rebranded as “ESPN Bet sportsbook” includes Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway, L'Auberge Casino and Hotel Baton Rouge in Louisiana and Plainridge Park Casino in Massachusetts. The three properties listed are expected to open during August of 2024.

Properties estimated to open in September 2024 include Hollywood Casino Columbus and Hollywood Casino Toledo in Ohio, Hollywood Casino Perryville in Maryland and L’Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles and Margaritaville Resort Casino Bossier City in Louisiana.

The first ESPN Bet branded retail sportsbook opened at Hollywood Casino at Greektown in Detroit in April of this year.

“We’re thrilled to open the first ESPN Bet retail location in Detroit and become part of a community of deeply passionate sports fans,” ESPN Bet and Fantasy VP Mike Morrison said at the time of opening in Detroit.

“We want fans to come embrace a first-class betting experience and we’re excited to showcase the ESPN Bet brand in a contemporary space.”

Each sportsbook will feature a premium viewing area and dining options, providing a unique experience for sports fans to watch the games take place.

As Penn Entertainment plans for future expansion of ESPN Bet, the company has also been approached by Boyd Gaming for a potential acquisition, according to a report from Reuters in June. The deal would be the largest US gambling merger since Eldorado Resorts' deal with Caesars Entertainment in 2019-20, which was valued at $17.3bn.
