The state reported another dip in activity for the month.

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has released its sports wagering figures for the month of June. The state reported total handle of nearly $147m for the month.

Last month’s revenue fell by close to $36m month-over-month.

As of now, March’s $272m sports betting handle remains the sixth-highest on record since Iowa opened its sports betting market.

For June, sportsbooks statewide reported $12.5m in adjusted gross revenue (AGR).

Iowa players did well last month when it came to wager winnings, taking home close to $134m in earnings from their bets. Almost $125m of those wins came from bets that were placed online.

Last month, 19 operators took bets from Iowa players, accounting for a total online sports betting handle of close to $137m.

During June, sports wagering in Iowa contributed close to $0.8m in taxes.

In other state news, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission held a recent meeting to discuss a casino proposal.

The pending project, proposed by the Linn County Gaming Association and its partner Peninsula Pacific Entertainment, would bring a new casino to the Cedar Rapids area.

The duo has worked on the application for the past two years and will be ready to submit the full proposal by the end of this month, according to a representative of the development group and Linn County Gaming Association.

Until recently, the state had a two-year moratorium on new gaming licenses in place. However, the moratorium expired earlier this month.

Cedar Rapids has attempted to bring another casino to the city multiple times throughout the years. However, the city has faced opposition until now.
