FanDuel pays $2,000 fine for taking April Fool’s Day wagers

New Jersey regulators recently issued FanDuel a fine for taking wagers on April Fool’s Day for events that had already occurred. According to a Associated Press report, the operator had to pay a $2,000 fine for the spring prank gone wrong.
FanDuel accepted 34 bets on April 1 2022 on advertised mixed martial arts live fights that were to take place that day. The operator told the state it had accepted 26 online wagers and eight retail wagers for a total of $190,904.
However, those fights happened on March 25, a week earlier.
New Jersey’s Division of Gaming Enforcement stated in a recent public letter that FanDuel claimed “it was not notified by its data-feed providers that the Professional Fighters League matches were actually a recording of events that had already happened.”
New Jersey Deputy Attorney General Gina DeAnnuntis went to explain in a written statement, “FanDuel confirmed that its traders failed to confirm with PFL that the event had previously occurred and was being presented via a tape delay.”
FanDuel has not commented on the situation.
In addition to the $2,000 fine, FanDuel also paid out more than $230,000 to settle wagers place had placed.
In other FanDuel news, American Gaming Systems (AGS), a subsidiary of its parent company, PlayAGS, recently teamed up with the operator to offer players access to its content in three US states.
Its games are now available in New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania through the partnership.
AGS recently released a statement on social media, celebrating its collaboration with FanDuel.
The company said, “AGS is excited to partner with top US online casino operator FanDuel Casino to host its chart-topping content library now live in Pennsylvania, Michigan and New Jersey.”
