Caesars Times Square casino partners plan to invest $250m in local communities

Both the Midtown and Hell’s Kitchen neighborhoods could stand to benefit if Caesars wins the casino bid.
A team involved with the Caesars Palace Times Square casino proposal has put forth a $250m neighborhood investment plan that would offer support to the Hell’s Kitchen and Midtown communities, according to a recent amNewYork Metro local report.
However, the plan’s launch is contingent on whether Caesars and its partners win the bid to build a casino in Times Square.
Caesars has teamed up with SL Green and rapper Jay-Z’s Roc Nation to submit its Time Square casino bid.
Should Caesars win the contract, the proposed $250m investment would go to support several local community projects, including planting hundreds of new street trees, a composting initiative and efforts to keep the sidewalks and local streets clean.
SL Green Executive VP Brett Herschenfeld told local news that he believes a winning bid for Caesars also constitutes a win for the community.
He commented, “With a project of this scale comes enormous responsibility to our neighborhood and community. We want everyone around us to win if we win.
“I’m not just talking about big businesses. We need to bring benefits to the restaurants, the small mom-and-pop restaurant businesses and we need to bring benefits to the residents. They are the lifeblood of Times Square.”
Caesars Palace Times Square has collaborated with a nonprofit called the Doe Fund “to create a team to supplement the NYC Department of Sanitation efforts,” the local report said.
The Doe Fund aims provide job opportunities for marginalized communities and works to end homelessness in its surrounding neighborhoods.
Doe Fund President and CEO Jennifer Mitchell told local news that the group is eager to team up with Caesars Times Square.
She concluded by saying, “The Doe Fund’s Ready, Willing and Able program connects individuals experiencing homelessness to careers and permanent housing through a comprehensive approach that combines paid transitional work experience, transitional housing, workforce development and other support services.
“We are thrilled for a potential partnership to provide economic opportunity to even more New Yorkers, while beautifying Hell’s Kitchen.”
