World Poker Masters to Set New Bar for Crypto Tournaments
Top crypto poker operator CoinPoker is introducing a new tournament series that raises the bar for such products. The World Poker Masters is the operator’s most ambitious tournament series yet, boasting $25 million in total guarantees, with $2.5 million of that concentrated in the main event.
World Poker Masters will run from May 3 through June 1, putting it right up against the start of the annual summer poker migration to Las Vegas, which will see thousands of players journey to the desert to compete in the biggest live events of the year.
World Poker Masters will give them more options than ever for a warm-up. Players can use the crypto poker tournaments in the series to sharpen their games before they get in the mix live. That’s been a tried and true strategy for years, thanks to traditional spring online events. CoinPoker will look to upset the established balance dominated by legacy operators such as PokerStars.
What is the CoinPoker World Poker Masters?
World Poker Masters is a crypto poker tournament festival that dwarfs prior series on CoinPoker, the world’s leading such operator. For context, the Winter Poker Masters, held this past December and January, guaranteed $10 million. The World Poker Masters marks a 150% leap.
The main event will be a $530 multi-flight, best-stack-forward format, giving players the chance to qualify for Day 2 each Sunday during the series.
Other festival highlights include the $55 mini main ($500,000 guaranteed), $215 CoinMillion ($1 million guaranteed), and $1,500 CoinMasters High Roller ($1 million guaranteed).
Players will also have the opportunity to compete on festival leaderboards for $500,000 in added prizes. A $30,000 prize goes to the overall winner, and weekly winners can top out at $15,000.
Competing With Traditional Powers in Lead-Up to World Series of Poker
Traditionally, online tournament festivals have often led into the World Series of Poker and other Las Vegas summer tournaments. They give eager players the chance to sharpen their skills before the long summer live grind.
In that respect, CoinPoker World Poker Masters will attempt to occupy a pretty crowded niche of online festivals. The most successful and storied over the years has been PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), but that wrapped up in late March this year as the operator used that to lead into the Irish Poker Open.
That clears the way for CoinPoker to capture more of the May lead-in space vacated by SCOOP’s slightly altered time slot.
