Encore Boston Harbor ranked as the highest earner for the month.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has released the state’s casino and sports betting results for March. Its casinos, Plainridge Park Casino (PPC), MGM Springfield (MGM) and Encore Boston Harbor (EBH) brought in close to $111.1m in gross gaming revenue (GGR).

During March, slots accounted for $72.1m of the state’s total GGR, while table games brought in another $38.9m.

In a breakdown of earnings by casino, MGM Springfield ended the month with $25.2m in revenue from table games and slots during the month. Encore Boston Harbor raked in $70.4m in revenue in March, while Plainridge Park Casino brought in close to $15.4m in revenue from slots and table games.

During March, Plainridge Park Casino, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor paid $31.4m in state taxes.

All three casinos hold Category 1 licenses, which allow them to operate retail sports betting locations in their casinos.

In the area of sports betting, the state reported collecting almost $655m in wagers in March and paid close to $9.2m in state taxes.

The state’s online and retail sports betting locations contributed almost $52.5m in taxable sports wagering revenue as well for the month of March.

Retail sports betting became legal in Massachusetts in January 2023. The state welcomed the online sports betting market in March 2023.

BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook, DraftKings, ESPN Bet, Fanatics Betting & Gaming and FanDuel currently hold licenses in the state to function as Category 3 operators.

However, Betr and WynnBet recently announced that it will no longer offer online sports betting services in Massachusetts.

Though Massachusetts players will no longer have the option to place bets through the WynnBet app, the company said it will continue to offer retail sports betting services at Encore Boston Harbor.
