The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (NJDGE) has once again reported a month of growth for its total gaming revenue, releasing numbers for the month of March for its casinos, racetracks and their partners.
In total, gaming revenue in the state was $526.6m for the month of March, representing an increase of 8.1% year-over-year. Year-to-date this means 2024 has seen $1.55bn in total gaming revenue, up 15.7% from the same year-to-date period.
Casino revenue continued to reflect the largest proportion of gaming revenue at $239.8m, showing growth of 4.9%, with both slot machine and table game revenue increasing.
Of the three main verticals, sports wagering revenue was the only one to see a decrease during the month, though it was only by a slight 3.6% to $89.7m.
Of the licensees to offer sports wagering, only six of the 13 showed revenue growth, though Harrah’s showed a significant rise, going up by 1156% to $238,556.
Online gaming revenue was valued at $197.2m and this was an increase of 19% when compared to the same period last year and looking at the year-to-date period, this is set at $562.8m, a 22% increase compared to the same year-to-date period in 2023.
It was the Golden Nugget thatbrought in the largest amount of online gaming revenue at $57.1m, but it was the Tropicana that saw the highest growth at 72.2%, to a total of $13.1m.
The Borgata once again represented the largest total gaming revenue at $106.6m, but this was a 6.1% decrease compared to March 2023. In fact, all three main verticals went down for the casino licensee year-over-year.
In related news last week, Atlantic City casino licensees reported a 4.1% decline in their full year profit for 2023.
