Penn Entertainment to hold groundbreaking ceremony for new hotel
The venue will be based at Hollywood Casino Columbus.
Penn Entertainment is due to hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new hotel, which will be based at the Hollywood Casino Columbus on 28 November 2023.
The hotel will form part of the existing property and is due to add a number of jobs, namely in construction and in the form of permanent jobs when the venue is open.
Within the hotel, it is expected it will have 180 rooms, a meeting space, a restaurant, local partnerships and amenities.
The new hotel was part of a previously announced plan by the company, which consisted of four new growth projects and included new land-based casinos in Aurora and Joliet, Illinois and an additional hotel tower in Henderson, Nevada.
The project will be supported by the City of Aurora, which is providing $50m in funding for the project, while Gaming and Leisure Properties has committed up to $575m towards the overall budget for all four of the projects.
Penn Entertainment President and CEO Jay Snowden said: “We are thrilled to soon begin construction on a new, state-of-the-art hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus.
“Since opening in 2012, our Columbus property has experienced tremendous growth, and the addition of a hotel at Hollywood Casino Columbus will create a true regional destination.”
VP & GM of Hollywood Casino Columbus, Rick Skinner, added: “We are elated to be celebrating this day with our team members, supporters, and key stakeholders.
“We can’t wait to begin hiring new team members and welcoming more visitors from around the region to showcase our new hotel and the excitement of Hollywood Casino Columbus.”
At the start of this month, Penn Entertainment announced its Q3 2023 results, posting $1.62bn in overall revenue, though adjusted EBITDA fell by nearly $140m year-over-year to a total of $298.5m.
