Nebraska regulator teams up with RealResponse gambling hotline

The state said it wants to be proactive in providing space for anonymous reporting.

The Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission has partnered with gambling hotline RealResponse, according to a local report in the Lincoln Journal-Star. The Commission is the first state regulator to team up with the hotline.

Together, the duo will launch a public program that will allow people to report any questionable activities or concerns they have regarding state-regulated horseracing, sports wagering and casino gaming. The public will have the option to make these reports anonymously.

Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commission Executive Director Tom Sage told local news that he “has seen nothing that leads him to believe that contracting with an anonymous gambling integrity hotline is necessary in Nebraska.”

However, he said the regulator wants to be “proactive” and “be ahead of the curve” through this partnership.

RealResponse was founded in 2015. The hotline provides the public will access to real-time and anonymous two-way communications, as well as to surveys, metrics, benchmarks and compliance support.

Since its founding, the RealResponse community has grown to include more than two million athletes, along with administrators, coaches and staff. Community members come from both college and professional sports, as well as integrity units and governing bodies.

RealResponse Founder and CEO David Chadwick said in a written statement, “With legalized sports wagering and gambling expanding rapidly from state to state, there is a heightened need to guard against impropriety and to protect those vulnerable to increased criticism and threats.”

To date, more than 30 states have embraced regulated sports betting since the US Supreme Court overturned the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) in May 2018, also known as the Bradley Act.
