Grand Island Casino holds groundbreaking ceremony to kick off permanent casino project
Construction could wrap up in 15 to 17 months.
The Grand Island Casino recently held a celebration to commemorate breaking ground on its $100m permanent casino resort project, according to a local news report from KRVN 880 Rural Radio. The groundbreaking ceremony took place at Fonner Park.
Nebraska State Senator Ray Aguilar, Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commissioner Shane Greckel, Grand Island Mayor Roger Steele, Grand Island Chamber of Commerce President Cindy Johnson, Elite Casino Resorts CEO Dan Kehl and Fonner Park CEO Chris Kotulak were among the notable attendees.
Elite CEO Kehl told local news that the company is eager to get started with the project.
He commented, “We are excited to have a temporary casino open but wait until you see the amenities we offer in our permanent casino resort.
“We’ve put together a strong team of local contractors to partner with us on this project. We are glad to get the ball rolling.”
Resort construction is expected to take between 15 and 17 months to finish. Once completed, the new facility will be home to 20 table games and 750 slot machines. The casino resort will also feature a show lounge on its gaming floors that will offer guests both local and regional entertainment.
The 162-room hotel will also feature an indoor-outdoor pool and full-service salon and spa.
The Nebraska casino resort recently revealed plans to open a sportsbook pending approval from the state regulator. The Grand Island Casino Resort said it plans also to add an ultimate Texas hold-em game, along with one craps game, one roulette game and five blackjack tables.
