GAN has licence approved by Nevada game regulators
The company expects final approval early next month.
Nevada gaming regulators have approved a two-year license for the California-based sports betting technology provider Gan, although the company’s equipment won’t be reviewed by the Gaming Control Board testing lab until November.
Tina Robinson, GAN’s SVP of Compliance, told the Nevada Gaming Commission the company expects final approval from Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) by 3 November, after which point the equipment will then be submitted to the board’s technology division.
GAN, licensed across 25 countries, states and Tribal governments, and which provides sports betting technology to the Island View Casino in Gulfport, Mississippi, and Wynn Resort’s Encore Boston Harbor in Massachusetts, is expected to provide a similar product in order to replace the sports betting platform currently in place in Red Rock Resorts’ Southern Nevada sportsbooks.
Last year, Red Rock Resorts was fined $80,000 by state regulators and agreed to pay in June 2022, to settle complaints regarding 348 wagers which were taken on events with already known outcomes.
In October 2021, GAN made an agreement to build out the sports betting infrastructure for Station Casinos’ retail sportsbooks, betting kiosks and for the STN mobile app.
Seamus McGill was only recently appointed interim CEO of GAN and will seek to file for licensure as CEO after resigning as chairman, with the Control Board conditioning the license so that McGill couldn’t hold both positions
McGill told the Control Board at the hearing on 4 October that GAN hoped to provide sports betting technology to Wynn’s Strip operations following approval by Nevada.
