Former PointsBet employee takes legal action after claiming harassment in the workplace

Caroline Weeks has filed a lawsuit over her former employer’s inaction after enduring unwanted advances from both clients and customers at industry events.
Hired as a Senior Player Development Manager in January 2022, 25-year-old Caroline Weeks felt unsafe and harassed in her role and has spoken out about her decision to leave PointsBet.
Weeks stated that unwanted attention from clients included derogatory comments, sending roses to her home address and trying to kiss her during industry events.
At a casino event in Atlantic City, police were called and needed to interfere after an intoxicated PointsBet customer followed Weeks for an hour trying to touch her. The incident left Weeks feeling scared and she has since filed a Manhattan Federal Court lawsuit against PointsBet.
Weeks told the New York Post, “I broke down that evening. I felt completely alone in that moment and my privacy was just utterly forgotten about. It is scary when you’re dealing with intoxicated men who are much bigger than you and older than you. I think people who don’t understand the word ‘no’ are dangerous people.”
Weeks alleges that PointsBet did not act in any way to stop the harassment, which also included claims from clients that she was only hired due to her looks, as well as comparisons of Weeks to former professional golfer and Instagram model, Paige Spiranac, who has appeared in PointsBet’s commercials.
Weeks said of the comparison, “With Paige, she chooses to monetize her image, her personality and body. I get it. She has the looks and she chose to run with it. Me, however, I have a completely different job. I wasn’t there to be a glamorized poster girl for the job, I was there to do a job and do it professionally.”
Gaming America reached out to PointsBet for comment. A spokesperson with the company said, “These allegations from 2022 are arising in the context of a pending litigation and we do not comment on such matters. PointsBet has a zero tolerance policy with regard to harassment of any kind and we take these matters very seriously.”
