Caesars fires back at MGM, will reopen entertainment Oct 22

Announcement comes one day after MGM said some of its shows will return Nov 6
The hypercompetitive world of the Las Vegas Strip – made even more so due to fewer visitors to fight over – got a jolt Thursday when Caesars Entertainment sought to one-up MGM Resorts by reopening some of its live entertainment shows starting Oct. 22.
On Wednesday, MGM said seven of its shows would resume Nov. 6. Just one day later, Caesars announced four of its live shows were returning, starting with X Country at Harrah’s. The topless revue will hold its first performance Oct. 22. The other three Caesars shows that are reopening are: Absinthe at Caesars Palace (first performance Oct. 28), Piff the Magic Dragon at Flamingo (Oct. 29), and Tape Face at Harrah’s (Nov. 11).
In addition, the company said complimentary live musicians would be returning to lounges and bars in many Caesars properties in Las Vegas.
“As Caesars Entertainment will follow applicable guidelines set forth by health and government authorities and implement the Company’s enhanced health and safety protocols, guests can expect verbal health screenings, non-contact temperature checks, modified seating for social distancing, mandatory masks for guests and staff, limited capacity and more,” the company said in a statement.
“Live entertainment is an important part of the Las Vegas experience that makes visiting this city so special, and we are thrilled that we can be first to offer it to our guests again,” said Jason Gastwirth, president of entertainment for Caesars Entertainment. “In collaboration with our entertainment partners and with the support of governing officials, we are happy to lead the city with an enhanced health and safety plan that will put our team members back to work and keep our guests comfortable while enjoying these popular shows once again.”
