MGM Resorts to reopen some entertainment venues in Las Vegas Nov 6
Seven shows will at long last raise their curtains – with significant changes from pre-COVID
“After eight months, it’s time to bring entertainment back to the Entertainment Capital of the World.”
So begins a letter addressed to “Fellow entertainment fans” from George Kliavkoff, President of Entertainment and Sports for MGM Resorts. The company said seven of its long-shuttered shows will resume on Nov. 6, but noted there will be significant changes to the attendee experience.
MGM is now selling tickets for David Copperfield, Jabbawockeez, Brad Garrett’s Comedy Club, Carrot Top, Fantasy, The Australian Bee Gees and Thunder From Down Under. The new slogan is “Convene with Confidence,” to appeal to those who might be leery about being enclosed in a theater with strangers.
In his letter, Kliavkoff said COVID-19 forced the company to make several accommodations for the new normal.
“I am pleased to share with you our Convene with Confidence: Entertainment and Sports Health and Safety plan to reintroduce live entertainment options at our resorts,” he wrote. “Now, more than ever, safety is at the center of our operations so when you come to one of our entertainment venues, you can have a good time and know that we’ve got you covered on all the rest.”
Among the changes: contactless ticket scanning, staggered entry, grab-and-go concessions and what are described as “flexible” cancellation policies.
“Our hope with this guide is that you are able to visualize and plan your experience so there are no surprises when you arrive – just entertainment,” Kliavkoff said.
