WSOP kicks off $10,000 buy-in No-limit Hold’em World Championship Main Event

World Series of Poker (WSOP) has started the first of four flights for its 2023 Main Event, according to a local report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The $10,000 buy-in No-limit Hold’em World Championship this year is taking place at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas.
Registration will run through Saturday, followed by the final table kicking off July 16. Four finalists will play until one winner remains. Players will have a chance to take the victory from Norway’s defending champion Espen Jorstad.
As part of the festivities, previous tournament winner Jamie Gold gave the “shuffle up and deal” ceremonial announcement to start the Main Event’s first flight.
This year’s WSOP tournament started May 30, with events leading up to the final July faceoff. GG Poker held qualifiers this year for close to 600 seats, with the WSOP site adding additional seats for Nevada and New Jersey’s satellite players, according to the local report.
Players could get in on the action for this year’s Main Event, starting at $140 for a guaranteed seat, according to the Review-Journal. The 2023 tournament marks the 54th edition of WSOP.
WSOP is the world’s longest-running poker tournament. The free-to-play poker game has been going on since 1970. Since its beginnings, the tournament has evolved to include online elements, including social media.
WSOP has launched campaign initiatives designed to reach potential tournament players through various social media platforms.
During a recent campaign, WSOP gave 14 social media influencers an opportunity to compete and earn the title of WSOP Legend.
