Nevada Gaming Commission approves license for Nugget Casino Resort
Century Casinos said it plans to add another 100 slot machines to its new acquired property.
Century Casinos has been approved for licensing for its Nugget Casino Resort property in Sparks, Nevada, according to a Las Vegas Review Journal report. The Nevada Gaming Commission approved the license by a unanimous vote during a 75-minute meeting.
Century Casinos recently acquired Nugget Casino Resort, which is located three miles outside of the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The casino features 859 slot machines and 29 table games within its more than 50,000 square-foot space, as well as 8,555-seat outdoor amphitheater and 1,200-space parking garage.
In addition to gaming, the resort offers its guests access to several fine dining and casual restaurant options through its 110,000 square-foot convention space.
Executives told the Review Journal that casino expansion at The Nugget will be one of the company’s main priorities. Century Casinos said it plans to add an additional 100 slot machines to the gaming floor and upgrade the destination’s central bar.
Century Casinos is a Colorado-based company and operates 17 casinos. The group recently reported its 2022 financial results, which reflected significant growth for the year.
Net operating revenue climbed by 11% and reached $430.5m for 2022. The company posted $67.6m in earnings from operations for the year.
Century Casinos Co-CEOs Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger said: “In December 2022, we completed the relocation of the Caruthersville casino from the riverboat and barge to the land-based pavilion where we will operate the casino until the casino and hotel development project is complete.
“Construction on this project and our Cape Girardeau hotel project are on schedule to be completed in 2024.”
