The Eagle Mountain Casino, CA, forced to close due to storm
The storm devastated transit links to the Tule River Reservation and road repair efforts are underway.
The Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, CA, has been forced to close after being hit by a storm that caused excessive flooding and roadway damage. The extent of this damage caused all roads leading to the Tule River Reservation (where the casino is located) to be closed.
Tule River Tribe Chairman Neil Pyron commented on social media: “Eagle Mountain Casino will be closed until further notice. The goal is trying to restore the road to a point where we can have regular vehicle traffic.”
His post went on to share the Tribe’s safety guidelines and how they were currently being enforced. It said the Tule River Tribe was doing everything in its power to get the roads repaired to ensure safe vehicular travel.
Peyron went on to state: “The current priority for the Tule River Tribe is providing emergency vehicles access to the road and repair of infrastructure. No heavy vehicles are allowed, foot traffic and light side-by-side vehicles are allowed at this time to shuttle casino guests and to deliver emergency essentials to residents.”
Residents of the Tribal community have been encouraged to become temporary emergency workers during this time of crisis.
Eagle Mountain Casino is a full-service casino and is owned and operated by the Tule River Tribe. In 2021, it collaborated with HBG Design to open the venue, with this firm being an Associate Member of the National Indian Gaming Association.
It boasts a 2,000-seat event center, a steak house, cafes, a chocolaterie, a 24-hour diner, 1,750 slots, 20 table games and a sports bar.
