Massachusetts: Gambling.com Group granted sports betting registration
Players in the state will have access to sportsbook reviews and resources through BetMassachusetts.com.
Acquisitions services provider Gambling.com Group has gained a sports wagering registration that was issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC). The regulator has given the company the green light to license online sports betting operators once Massachusetts goes live on March 10.
The company launched BetMassachusetts.com last year in anticipation for the market’s debut. The domain currently gives players access to expert reviews of legal sportsbooks and other resources to aid them in finding credible websites.
Group Co-Founder and CEO Charles Gillespie said: “We are grateful for the Massachusetts Gaming Commission’s decision to accommodate a change in regulation to allow performance marketing activities at the launch of the market later this week.
“This brings Massachusetts in line with every other US state with regulated sports betting. Massachusetts has an extremely rich tradition in sports, and Gambling.com Group is well positioned to help guide and educate the Commonwealth’s passionate fan base through their first regulated online sports betting experience.”
Massachusetts is the latest state to open a regulated sports betting market for its residents. State Governor Charlie Baker signed a bill to legalize online sports betting last summer.
Company Vice President Caroline Smart commented on the recent change and the timing of the upcoming basketball playoffs by saying: “Massachusetts allowing sportsbooks to take legal sports bets as the Celtics and Bruins prepare for deep playoff runs, and with March Madness around the corner, is a huge win for sports bettors in the state.”
Gambling.com Group recently started providing marketing services in the Canadian province of Ontario for licensed online sports betting and iGaming operators and has also had successful launches in Kansas, New York and Louisiana.
