AGA reflects on a strong gaming year

The group announced that commercial and tribal revenue is on pace to surpass $100bn in 2022.
With 2022 coming to a close, Bill Miller, CEO of the American Gaming Association (AGA) released a recap of what the group has done over the year.
He revealed that commercial and tribal revenue is on pace to surpass $100bn this year. The CEO also commented on the strides the company has made in terms of responsible gaming and the illegal market.
The AGA enlisted US Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice to boost enforcement against illegal operators, which was backed by the Congressional Gaming Caucus. The AGA went on to launch StopIllegalGambling.org.
The group released the industry’s first-ever Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies report, extended Responsible Gaming Education Week to make it a month long and added new partners to Have A Game Plan Bet Responsibly.
Regarding the ESG report, Miller commented: “This is just the beginning for gaming and ESG. Working with our members, the AGA will expand our industry’s positive impact, defining new ways to help gaming lead responsibly and create greater value.”
The AGA held over 140 meetings with policymakers and staff to grow support for repealing the sports betting federal excise tax, spearheaded progress on the slot tax threshold, and defended against resort fee regulation.
A recent partner of the AGA is VSiN, The Sports Betting Network, which joined the Have A Game Plan program.
VSiN’s General Manager Len Mead said: “As the first sports media company dedicated to providing sports betting news and analysis, we believe that consumer education is core to VSiN’s strategy.
“We hope that partnering with AGA’s Have A Game Plan campaign will further this commitment with dedicated responsible gaming messages.”
