New York City casinos to remain closed

Governor will not announce reopening of casinos or movie theaters just yet.
New York City has entered Phase III of its reopening, as stated by Governor Andrew Cuomo, but this will not include casinos or movie theaters.
A decision is being finalized on the reopening of schools in September, while the Mid-Hudson region will enter Phase IV of reopening on 7 July and Long Island is on schedule to enter Phase IV on 8 July.
However, New York City’s casinos will remain closed for the time being, as the state government continues to review scientific data.
Casinos across the US have reopened within the last few weeks, although some have since been forced to reclose due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Penn National will also be laying off over 1,000 workers in Louisiana, due to the impact of COVID-19, in August.
Cuomo has previously expressed strong opposition to mobile wagering in New York, with the state’s gaming so far limited to land-based properties.
