Encore Boston Harbor announces 12 July reopening date
Massachusetts’ largest casino plans to reopen 12 July with enhanced health and safety protocols as part of the state’s Phase 3 reopening plan.
Encore Boston Harbor announced Thursday that its casino will reopen on 12 July as part of Phase 3 of the Reopening Massachusetts Plan.
According to a tweet from Gov. Charlie Baker, “Massachusetts continues to make progress on stopping the spread of COVID-19, per key public health metrics.” The Governor announced Thursday that Phase 3 will begin Monday, 6 July.
Encore Boston Harbor is waiting on approval from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) before it reopens.
The casino has implemented an enhanced set of health and safety protocols in accordance with recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the state’s Department of Public Health as well as MGC directives in place to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The health and safety measures include social distancing, mandatory face coverings, non-invasive thermal temperature scans at all entrances; those with a temperature of 100.4 or more will not gain admittance. Plus there will be increased cleaning and disinfecting of high touch and high traffic areas, and availability of hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and touchless technologies throughout the casino.
Many of the over 2,800 slot machines will be turned off to ensure social distancing of gamblers. The casino plans to install Plexiglas dividers between players at blackjack tables, and suspend poker, craps, and roulette until further notice, limiting the number of available table games.
A statement said that every effort has been made to “preserve Encore’s luxury experience and provide guests with the peace of mind needed to enjoy a fun and relaxing return.”
